Deadline - August 19, 2015

On behalf of the COQIPS Executive Committee, we invite you to participate in a free, innovative Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part 4 project focused on improving health literacy.   Successful completion of the project grants you 25 MOC Part 4 credits.   In addition to MOC Part 4 credits, as an added benefit, participants will be provided support to earn 20 MOC Part 2 credits.

This project is the first of its kind to take the world-class education that you get at our annual conference and tie it to a larger MOC Part 4 quality improvement project.  The COQIPS education (H) program is the one and only session at the 2015 National Conference & Exhibition to offer this exciting blend of education with MOC Part 4 credit opportunity.

By participating in the COQIPS education (H) program learning session, spending about 4 hours each month over 4 months, and successfully meeting the project requirements, you are eligible for 25 MOC Part 4 credits!  Additionally, throughout the project, the project leaders will review and discuss questions from the ABP’s Health Literacy Self-assessment.  The self-assessment questions will be integrated into the Learning Session, webinars, and project listserv. Participants will then be directed to complete the self-assessment questionnaire online on their own at the conclusion of the project to obtain MOC Part 2 credits.

The learning session takes place during the COQIPS education (H) program during AAP National Conference & Exhibition on Saturday, October 24th from 1:30 PM – 6:30 PM.

The project will provide access to experts in QI and health literacy, ample opportunity for networking and learning, and practical tools to help you make and sustain real practice change.

After evaluation, this model may be replicated by other councils or sections on topics meaningful to their members all while taking advantage of the AAP’s largest gathering of members – the AAP National Conference & Exhibition.  This could mean more MOC Part 4 QI projects on different topics (in addition to the favorite hand-washing topic), and offer you the ability to maximize your time at the National Conference & Exhibition.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please review the attached documents and complete the application by August 19, 2015.  If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Laura Ferguson (Lferguson@tamhsc.edu) and Cathleen Guch (Cguch@aap.org).

We hope you are as excited about this as we are!  We will see you in Washington, DC!
